Introduction to Sailing: Ages 12-Adult (4-6 students)
Test the waters with this 4 hour introduction to sailing aboard the 48 foot cutter ‘Blue Pearl.’ If you’re curious about sailing, and want to see if the sailing life might be for you, spend an afternoon tacking across Elliott Bay from Bainbridge Island to Seattle, gain some preliminary instruction; lend a hand at the helm or grinding a winch, and see how it feels to be afloat on a classic keel boat with the wind in your hair and the sun in your face. For an additional fee, this module offers the option of an extra hour at anchor in a quiet bay for sunset appetizers, so you can get a real taste of what the cruising life can offer.
Basic Sailing: Ages 12-Adult (4 to 6 students)
Step aboard the 48 foot cutter ‘Blue Pearl’ for an 8 hour introductory sailing course. This hands-on curriculum includes learning parts of the boat; nautical terminology; getting underway & returning to the dock safely; rules-of-the-road; safety gear and procedures; points of sail; tacking; jibing &basic navigation. This module on Sundays caters to all groups and abilities including women-only classes; couples; families and adults of all ages. This is a fun, supportive environment in which to learn the basics of sailing onboard a true blue water cruising vessel.
